How PlantRoom Began
"I'd always been the person with a house full of plants."
Jessie Cassin came home from an overseas singing contract during covid to find the music industry had changed overnight. Unsure what came next, she followed a long-held interest in plants, studying landscape design at Unitec and then floristry with Davina Prankerd.
Her first job came through a music contact: backstage greenery for an international touring crew visiting New Zealand, on the Glasshouse tour. One install led to another, and PlantRoom began.
Coming up through the music industry rather than retail means Jessie understands how production works behind the scenes. This understanding has been part of why promoters and production managers trust her to work in their creative spaces.
Since then, PlantRoom has worked with promoters and teams behind Lizzo, Pink, Harry Styles, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Post Malone, Netsky Glasshouse Tour, Laneway Festival, as well as council & corporate gigs. PlantRoom is based in Westgate and provides event plant hire and floristry across Auckland, working mostly in the music and arts industry, but sometimes dabbling in other sectors when requested.
